How it is computed

Mifflin-St Jeor: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) − 5 × age + 5 for men, or − 161 for women. Each extra kilogram adds 10 kcal and each extra year removes 5.

FAQ

What is the difference between BMR and daily calories?+

BMR is the energy used at complete rest. Daily needs multiply it by an activity factor, from 1.2 (sedentary) to 1.9 (extra active).

Is Mifflin-St Jeor better than Harris-Benedict?+

Studies find Mifflin-St Jeor closer to measured values for most adults; the Harris-Benedict calculator gives the other estimate for comparison.
