How the calculators work

Last updated :

1. A formula you can check

Each calculator applies one documented formula to the values you enter. The formula, with your numbers filled in, is shown next to the result, so you can redo the calculation by hand.

2. Only your numbers

A result uses only what you type. Nothing is looked up from other services while you calculate: no live exchange rates, prices or tax tables. When a calculation needs a rate or a limit, it is a field you fill in.

3. Tested

The formulas are covered by an automated test suite that checks results against reference values.

4. Estimates, not advice

Results are estimates based on the numbers you give. For health, tax, legal, insurance or investment decisions, check them with a qualified professional. The disclaimer has the details.
