How it is computed

Each cell is the fixed payment that repays the loan in equal monthly instalments: P × i / (1 − (1 + i)^−n), with i the monthly rate and n the number of months. Property tax and insurance are not included.

FAQ

Are taxes and insurance included?+

No. The table shows principal and interest only; add property tax and insurance in the calculator.

Why does my lender quote a slightly different payment?+

Canadian fixed-rate mortgages compound semi-annually and lenders round differently; the calculator lets you set the compounding.
