Formula
cumulative L = (target − actual) × 7 × weeks; 1 L of water ≈ 1 kg= 75.60
Note
These are deliberately simplified models. They assume a constant rate and ignore metabolic adaptation, water weight, hormones, illness, medication, sleep and stress, so individual results vary widely — two people following the same plan can land far apart. The 7700 kcal per kilogram of body fat figure is a population average, not a personal constant. A large deficit, a fast mileage or load ramp, or a very low target body fat can be harmful; treat any flagged rate as a reason to slow down. This is NOT medical, dietetic or coaching advice — consult a qualified doctor, registered dietitian or accredited coach before acting on any projection here, and especially if you are pregnant, under 18, or managing any medical condition.

How does the calculator track a hydration deficit over multiple days?+
It compares your estimated daily fluid needs (based on body weight, activity, and climate) against your actual intake, and carries forward any shortfall as a running deficit, similar to how sleep debt accumulates across days.
Can I fully rehydrate by drinking a large amount of water at once?+
Not efficiently — the body can only absorb and utilize a limited amount of fluid per hour, so a large deficit is better corrected by steadily increased intake over the following day or two rather than one large volume at once, which can also cause discomfort.
Does the calculator account for fluid from food, not just drinks?+
It should factor in an estimate for food-based water intake, since fruits, vegetables, and other foods contribute meaningfully to total hydration — counting only beverages tends to overstate how large your actual deficit is.
Why does exercise or hot weather increase the deficit so much faster?+
Sweat losses scale with exertion and temperature, so a hard workout or a hot day can multiply your fluid needs several times over baseline, which is why the calculator adjusts its target intake based on activity and climate inputs.
What are signs that a hydration deficit is becoming a real concern?+
Beyond thirst, indicators like dark urine color, fatigue, headache, and reduced exercise performance suggest a meaningful deficit — the calculator's running total is a useful proxy, but these physical signs matter more than the number alone.
