Formula
weekly Δkg = (daily deficit × 7) ÷ 7700; weeks = (start − target) ÷ weekly Δkg= 26.40
Note
These are deliberately simplified models. They assume a constant rate and ignore metabolic adaptation, water weight, hormones, illness, medication, sleep and stress, so individual results vary widely — two people following the same plan can land far apart. The 7700 kcal per kilogram of body fat figure is a population average, not a personal constant. A large deficit, a fast mileage or load ramp, or a very low target body fat can be harmful; treat any flagged rate as a reason to slow down. This is NOT medical, dietetic or coaching advice — consult a qualified doctor, registered dietitian or accredited coach before acting on any projection here, and especially if you are pregnant, under 18, or managing any medical condition.

How does the calculator estimate how long weight loss will take?+
It uses your target weight loss and an assumed weekly or daily calorie deficit, converting that deficit into an expected rate of loss (roughly 3,500 calories per pound of fat), then projects the number of weeks needed to reach your goal.
Why did my weight loss slow down even though I kept the same deficit?+
As you lose weight, your body needs fewer calories to maintain itself, so a fixed calorie intake creates a shrinking deficit over time — this is why many plans need periodic recalculation as weight drops, which the calculator accounts for if you re-enter your current weight.
Is faster weight loss always better?+
No — very large deficits speed up short-term loss but increase muscle loss risk and are harder to sustain; a moderate, sustainable deficit (commonly 0.5-1% of body weight per week) is generally more effective long-term than an aggressive one.
Why does the scale not move in a straight line even with a consistent deficit?+
Water retention, glycogen stores, hormonal cycles, and digestive contents all cause day-to-day weight fluctuations that have nothing to do with fat loss — the calculator's projection is a trend line, not a promise of steady daily progress.
Does this account for changes in activity level during the timeline?+
Only if you update it — the projection assumes your activity and calorie intake stay constant, so if you increase exercise or change your diet partway through, re-run the calculator with updated numbers for an accurate revised timeline.
