Formula
Cartons = cartons per layer × ⌊usable height ÷ carton height⌋= 48

This is a simplified model using standard logistics formulas; real-world contracts, carrier rules, and regulations may add further terms.

What does this calculator figure out?+
How many cartons (boxes) of a given size can be stacked onto a standard pallet, based on the carton's footprint and height and the pallet's usable area and maximum stack height.
What inputs are required?+
The carton's length, width, and height, the pallet's footprint dimensions, and the maximum allowable stack height (often limited by warehouse racking or trailer height).
How is the per-layer count calculated?+
It divides the pallet's floor area by the carton's footprint, accounting for orientation, to find how many cartons fit in one layer, then multiplies by how many layers fit within the height limit.
Why does carton orientation matter?+
Rotating cartons 90 degrees can change how efficiently they tile the pallet's footprint — a carton that leaves wasted space in one orientation might fit perfectly when rotated, so it's worth checking both.
Why is my actual carton count lower than the calculated maximum?+
The theoretical maximum assumes perfect tiling with no wasted space; real stacking often loses some capacity to interlocking patterns, overhang restrictions, or stability requirements that prevent using every inch of the footprint.
