What conversion factor is used for metres to feet?+
One metre equals exactly 3.280839895 feet, which comes from the international definition of the inch as exactly 25.4 mm. The calculator uses this exact factor rather than a rounded 3.28, so results stay accurate even for large values.
Why do my inches and feet not add up to a round number?+
Because metric and imperial units aren't simple multiples of each other, converting a round metric number (like 1 m) rarely produces a round imperial one (3 ft 3.37 in). This is expected and not a rounding error in the tool.
How many decimal places should I trust in the result?+
For everyday use (furniture, room dimensions, DIY) two decimal places are plenty; beyond that you're usually just carrying forward the imprecision of your original measurement. Use more decimals only for technical or engineering work where the input was itself measured that precisely.
Can I convert a mixed measurement like 5 feet 8 inches?+
Yes — enter feet and inches separately (or as a decimal foot value) and the calculator combines them before converting to metric. Remember that 8 inches is 8/12 of a foot, not 0.8, which is the most common manual-conversion mistake.
